Aydın Adnan Menderes University Veterinary Faculty Biosafety Manual Pocket Guide 2023
The aim of Aydın Adnan Menderes University Veterinary Faculty Biosafety Guide is to ensure the continuity of quality education and service. In this context, it is among the primary objectives to protect hospital staff, students and patient owners from zoonotic diseases, to ensure that students receive the best education on infection prevention and control and disease monitoring methods, and to inform patient owners and other people in the community about the prevention and prevention of infectious diseases in animals and humans. In addition, it is essential to inform the students and staff about the necessary biosafety measures and to provide control during laboratory studies while carrying out education and service works. In addition to all these, it is one of the priorities of Aydın ADU Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Biosafety Program to collect medical wastes separately without harming public health and the environment, to temporarily store them, to work for their recovery, transportation and final disposal. Based on these purposes, this guide contains the basic biosafety principles that must be followed and applied during the education, research and service processes of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. Knowing and applying the basic rules in this guide by students, administrative and academic staff and patient owners will help reduce the risk of hospital-acquired infections and zoonotic diseases. The rules and principles in the biosafety guide primarily include measures to protect the health of students, staff, patient owners and visitors. In addition, in this guide, which was prepared in coordination with the Waste Management Plan, principles for public health and environmental protection were also given importance.
Aydın Adnan Menderes University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Waste Management Plan
Continuously advancing science and technology not only offers new services and products, but also causes more and more new waste products. The elimination of waste products without harming nature and the environment can be achieved by environmentally conscious behaviors of individuals as well as institutions. In addition to training "Veterinarians" equipped with modern and scientific knowledge, our faculty also provides clinical and laboratory services. It is among our priority duties to render harmless all kinds of waste products arising from the services of our faculty that may harm the environment and human health. For this reason, we must take every care to ensure that our academic and administrative staff, students and patients are in appropriate and healthy environments. Our faculty "Waste Management Plan" by the commission in charge; “Medical Waste Control Regulation” has been updated by taking into account the “Animal Health and Police Law” no. 3285 and related regulations.
Chemical wastes are hazardous wastes produced during education, research, diagnosis and treatment processes. Harmful effects of chemical wastes generated during research and education in laboratories may occur through respiration or skin, and also cause environmental pollution. For this reason, liquid or solid waste chemicals released in laboratories should not be mixed with other biological, pathological and radiological wastes and general garbage.
