General Information

Our Faculty was established together with our University on July 3, 1992, and the first faculty member was appointed in 1993. After the completion of the establishment procedures and service buildings, undergraduate and speciality medical education, as well as patient services, commenced. In 2010, with the opening of the new Aydın Adnan Menderes University Training and Research Hospital building, located on the central campus, pre- and post-graduate clinical education and healthcare services have been continued in this facility.
At our Faculty, post-graduate medical education began in 1996 with six speciality students in three main branches, and undergraduate medical education started in 1998 with 28 students. The language of instruction is Turkish.
As of September 2025, post-graduate education is providing speciality training to 593 students in 32 programs. Post-graduate education continues for 34 specialists in 12 subspecialty programs. In addition, post-graduate education is ongoing in the Faculty Member Training Program (ÖYP), master’s, and doctoral programs. The number of medical students has increased in parallel with the growing number of academic staff. As of September 2025, the number of undergraduate students has reached 1,782 (930 male and 852 female students).
Our Faculty has trained 1,236 medical specialists and 76 subspecialists.
The hospital currently in service was relocated in 2010 to the new hospital building on the campus. In this new building, all surgical and internal medicine departments, as well as the emergency service, are fully operational. The standard bed capacity is 1,001, intensive care beds are 142, palliative care beds are 23, and service beds are 836, totalling 2,002 beds. The finest details have been considered to ensure patient comfort. A helipad is available at the University Hospital to provide ambulance helicopter services and has been constructed to accommodate all military and civilian helicopters.
Despite its relatively short history, our hospital has become a reference centre for Aydın and neighbouring provinces.

The mission is to train physicians who adopt and adhere to medical ethical principles; are equipped with professional knowledge and skills; possess the ability to conduct research, apply knowledge, think critically, and make informed decisions; have the competence to work independently and assume responsibility; are confident; are committed to protecting and promoting individual, community, and planetary health, and to treating patients; value human life and health in every aspect at the highest level; are prepared to provide well-equipped and competent service; possess lifelong learning skills; meet the health service needs of society at the highest level; have strong communication skills; and are capable of serving as physician team leaders.

The vision is to be a medical faculty that trains physicians who are fully equipped in the field of medicine, understand the health needs and priorities of society, carry the responsibility of team leadership, and provide qualified and holistic healthcare services within the framework of ethical principles; conducts research of high scientific and social value; effectively utilizes information technologies in education, research, and healthcare services; contributes to the development of the healthcare system; and is recognized nationally and internationally as a pioneering medical faculty through the quality of its education, scientific productivity, and service activities.

Our Aim in Education: Our aim in education is to train qualified physicians who give the highest value to human life and health in every aspect; adopt and adhere to medical ethical principles; protect, improve, and promote the health of individuals, society, and the planet; possess strong communication and leadership skills and embrace teamwork; implement evidence-based, highest-quality approaches in prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation; have the competence to work independently and assume responsibility; have internalized contemporary scientific thinking models and embrace lifelong learning; and comply with national and international standards of medical education.
Our Aim in Research: Our aim in research is to conduct studies that generate solutions for protecting, improving, and promoting the health of individuals, society, and the planet, primarily in our region but also at national and international levels; contribute to enhancing public health; produce innovative and value-adding outputs; utilize information technologies effectively; adhere to research and publication ethics; and provide scientific contributions to the universal medical literature.
Our Aim in Service Delivery: Our aim in service delivery is to be an institution that, primarily in our region, meets the healthcare needs of individuals and society at the highest level; provides safe services in accordance with ethical principles; adopts evidence-based, contemporary approaches in prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation; increases patient and staff satisfaction through continuous improvement and quality initiatives; and is recognized at the international level.

Aydın Adnan Menderes University Faculty of Medicine has been operating in its new three-story building, which became functional in 2016. The building, established on an area of 17,000 m², houses classrooms, offices for the Department of Basic Medical Sciences, and administrative offices.
The building includes:
4 amphitheatres with capacities ranging from 250 to 350 persons,
22 classrooms [4 classrooms with a capacity of 50 persons and 18 classrooms with a capacity of 100 persons],
8 seminar rooms (50–70 persons),
2 conference halls,
2 study (reading) rooms (50–70 persons),
1 computer laboratory (55 persons),
Additionally, the building contains:
2 multidisciplinary student laboratories (including 1 microscopy laboratory),
1 anatomy practice laboratory,
4 clinical skills laboratories,
3 simulation rooms,
2 meeting rooms,
1 student cafeteria,
1 student dining hall.
Moreover, students also benefit from the University’s central student cafeteria for meals and other needs.

At the Faculty, the Eduroam wireless internet network is available, providing students with easy access to the internet. The computer laboratory is equipped with a sufficient number of computers to meet students’ needs, and classrooms are furnished with computers and projection devices that enable online lessons.
In addition, for Faculty students, the University Hospital, which serves as an education and practice centre, includes the following facilities:
Intensive Care Unit with 142 beds, Wards with a total of 836 beds, 26 Operating Rooms, 1 Emergency Operating Room, Palliative Care Unit with 23 beds, Hemodialysis–Peritoneal Dialysis Unit with 26 beds, Organ and Tissue Transplant Unit with 6 beds, Bone Marrow Transplant Unit with 10 beds, Burn Unit with 5 beds, Chemotherapy Unit with 65 beds, Physical Therapy Center with 24 beds.
