2012-2013 eğitim-öğretim yılında Yabancı Dil Hazırlık sınıfıyla Batı Dilleri ve Edebiyatları Bölümü içerisinde eğitim öğretime başlamış; 2015-16 eğitim-öğretim yılı içerisinde Batı Dilleri ve Edebiyatları Bölümü ayrılarak İngiliz Dili ve Edebiyatı Bölümü olarak eğitime devam etmektedir.

İngiliz Dili ve Edebiyatı Bölümünün misyonu hem yüksek akademik başarıya ulaşmak hem de çağdaş bir eğitim anlayışı ile İngiliz Dili ve Edebiyatı ve batı kültürünü iyi bilen çok yönlü bireyler yetiştirmektir.

İngiliz Dili ve Edebiyatı Bölümünün vizyonu, uluslararası düzeyde faaliyet gösteren, donanımlı, geleceğe iz bırakan bir bölüm olmaktır.

İngiliz Dili, Edebiyatı ve kültürünü tanıyan, İngilizce'yi iyi derecede yazılı ve sözlü olarak kullanabilen, anadiline (Türkçe’ye) hakim, ikinci yabancı dil olarak Almanca veya Fransızca’yı temel anlamda kullanabilen, Batı dilleri ve kültürlerine hakim, çeşitli sektörlerde çalışabilecek bireyler yetiştirmek.

English Philologist

The Department of English Language and Literature of the Faculty of Letters offers a 4-year Undergraduate programme. The medium of instruction is English, excluding compulsory and elective courses students must take from other departments. All qualifying students are required to take an English Proficiency Test or demonstrate competence in English. Those who are successful begin their studies in the Department. Students who fail the proficiency test are required to complete the English Preparatory Programme of the School of Foreign Languages at Adnan Menderes University. The main objective of the Undergraduate Programme of the Department of English Language and Literature is to teach English literature and culture, train researchers, and promote research in this field.

Bachelor's Degree

Students are required to hold a valid high school diploma issued by the Republic of Turkey Ministry of National Education, or other international diplomas authorised by the Ministry of National Education to register for the Undergraduate Programme. Students should succeed in the Language 1 test of the National Student Selection and Placement Test. Entry requirements for the international students: International Students should comply with the requirements of the Regulations of Admission for the International Students of the Turkish Higher Educational Council, and the Criteria for Admitting International Students announced by Adnan Menderes University per academic year.

Individuals qualified to register as undergraduate students in the Department of English Language and Literature are required to have completed successfully their high school education or its equivalent, and they should succeed in the Language Test 1 of the National Student Selection and Placement Test.

In order to graduate from Adnan Menderes University English Language and Literature Undergraduate Programme, students are required to comply with the ADU Undergraduate Degree Academic Education and Exam Regulations, complete at least 180 credits of the departmental compulsory courses including the common compulsory courses ; complete 52 credits of departmental elective courses, at least 8 credits of non-departmental elective courses; accomplish the courses corresponding to 240 ECTS, and obtain at least 2.00 grade point average out of 4.00.
