General Information

The Faculty of Health Sciences at Aydın Adnan Menderes University was established by the Council of Ministers’ Decision published in the Official newspaper dated April 8, 2016, and numbered 29678, through the transformation of Aydın School of Health. The Faculty commenced its academic activities in the 2017–2018 academic year by admitting students to the Departments of Nutrition and Dietetics, Child Development, and Midwifery. The Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation began admitting students in the 2020–2021 academic year.
Currently, the Faculty comprises seven departments: Nutrition and Dietetics, Child Development, Midwifery, Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Speech and Language Therapy, Audiology, and Social Work. At present, student admission continues in the Departments of Nutrition and Dietetics, Child Development, Midwifery, and Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation. The Departments of Speech and Language Therapy, Audiology, and Social Work are planned to start admitting students upon completion of their infrastructure and academic staff recruitment.
The Faculty currently employs 37 academic staff and 14 administrative personnel, and approximately 1,354 undergraduate students are actively pursuing their education.
Within the scope of graduate education, the following programs are actively conducted:

• Master’s Program (with thesis) in Nutrition and Dietetics
• Master’s Program (with thesis) in Child Development
• Master’s (with thesis) and Doctoral Programs in Midwifery
• Master’s Program (with thesis) in Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation
The Faculty’s educational approach emphasizes practice-based learning, providing students with modern laboratory facilities to reinforce their theoretical knowledge.

The educational activities conducted within the Faculty are planned in accordance with the principles of modern health services, aiming to train health professionals who are ethically grounded, equipped with a sense of community service, and capable of scientific thinking.

The vision of our faculty; To become a nationally and internationally recognized and preferred educational institution in the fields of education, management, research and application of midwifery, Child Development and Nutrition and Dietetics, Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Language and Speech, Audiology, Social Work professions.

In the light of scientific knowledge, we train health professionals with a sense of social and professional responsibility who can use their education, practice, research, management and leadership roles effectively in protecting, developing and maintaining individual, family and community health, and provide quality to the society with nationally and internationally recognized and preferred professionals to provide health services and to contribute to the development of both public health and the profession.

Located within the Central Campus of Aydın Adnan Menderes University, the Faculty of Health Sciences occupies a total enclosed area of 7,812 m² and has been designed with a student-centered, accessible, and sustainable architectural approach. The faculty building accommodates educational, administrative, and support units in an integrated structure.
The educational areas include three lecture halls with capacities ranging from 120 to 150 students and three classrooms accommodating 40 to 60 students each. All classrooms and lecture halls are equipped with projectors, sound systems, and internet access, fully compatible with modern instructional technologies.
To enhance the quality of applied education, the Faculty has established specialized laboratories and practice units tailored to each academic discipline: In the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, a Nutrition and Diet Counseling Unit enables students to perform anthropometric measurements and diet analyses. Additionally, the Principles of Nutrition Laboratory, Food Chemistry Laboratory, and Nutrition and Dietetics Laboratory provide facilities that support practice-based learning. The Department of Child Development offers hands-on training opportunities through the Developmental Assessment, Monitoring, and Support Unit. The Department of Midwifery conducts simulation-based training on childbirth, neonatal care, and maternal health through the Midwifery Laboratory and the Midwifery Department Birth and Neonatal Laboratories. The Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation supports students’ clinical skill development through the Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Assessment Room, Basic Training Laboratory, and Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Practice and Exercise Counseling Unit.
The Faculty employs 37 academic and 14 administrative staff members, all of whom have access to computers and internet facilities. The Dean’s Office, Faculty Secretariat, Student Affairs, Financial Affairs, Personnel, and Administrative Services operate in a well-organized administrative structure. Academic and administrative meetings are held in two meeting rooms equipped with projection systems.
Among the Faculty’s social and support facilities are a 40-person reading room and an open car park with a capacity of 75 vehicles. The Faculty provides an inclusive learning environment with accessible ramps, wide corridors, and elevator systems designed to accommodate individuals with disabilities.

The Faculty of Health Sciences possesses a robust information technology infrastructure. A comprehensive wired (CAT6) and wireless (Wi-Fi) network system operates throughout the faculty building and is fully integrated with the university’s central server network.
A wide range of digital information systems are effectively utilized to manage educational and administrative processes electronically. These include the Student Information System (OBİS), Academic Information System (AKBİS), Public Personnel Expenditure Management System (KPHYS), University Information Management System (ÜBYS), Movable Property Registration and Management System (TKYS), Personnel Information System (PERBİS), and the Revolving Fund Financial Management System (DMİS). Through these systems, an integrated digital management network has been established for academic, administrative, and financial operations.
The Faculty is equipped with 48 desktop computers, 19 portable computers, 11 projectors, 1 barcode reader, 1 printing machine, 1 photocopy machine, 1 fax device, 1 microscope, and 1 optical reader. These technological resources significantly enhance the efficiency of educational, research, and administrative activities.
Heating, cooling, and ventilation are provided through a central air conditioning system, while laboratories are equipped with specialized ventilation systems. Security across the faculty is ensured by a 24/7 active CCTV camera system, providing a safe working environment for both staff and students.
All academic staff computers operate in integration with Office 365, ADÜ e-mail accounts, and the University Information Management System (ÜBYS), ensuring secure and uninterrupted digital workflows. Maintenance, repair, and technical support services for the faculty building are regularly carried out by the Department of Construction and Technical Affairs.
The Faculty of Health Sciences continuously improves its physical and technological infrastructure in line with the principles of digitalization, sustainability, and accessibility. By offering a modern, secure, and technology-supported educational environment, the Faculty contributes to the training of highly qualified health professionals.
